The business of Summer

Everyone must have something they enjoy doing during the summer. I love to sail and be by the ocean, always have. Love it so much that I try and integrate it into my work. Here are a couple of examples.

Jim Reineck from JM Reinek & Sons and I go way back. We met at NU as engineering undergrads and have been friends ever since. Jim's company makes bronze hardware for vintage boats like what you see below. We collaborate on taking this vintage bronze hardware, turning it into 3-D CAD models so that patterns can be made for casting. You can take a look at more of his sweet creations here.

David Schwartz at GMT Composites is a recognized world leader in the design and construction of advanced, high quality composite parts for the marine, medical and industrial markets. David and I have been collaborating on projects since 2001. I asked him early on if he would supply me with carbon fiber shapes for accessory products. We had some fun creating samples & products for Tiffany, Polo and David Yurman to name a few. You can take a look at more of his High Tech work here.
